About CompanionVerdict
CompanionVerdict is an independent review site for AI companion and roleplay apps. We test these apps hands-on, rank them honestly, and help you figure out which one is actually worth your time and money — without the hype.
Why we exist
AI companions went from niche curiosity to a crowded, fast-moving industry in a remarkably short time. There are now dozens of apps, all promising the same thing: a companion that understands you. Most of the « reviews » you’ll find online are thin, recycled, or quietly paid for. Rankings shuffle depending on who’s paying, not on what’s good.
We built CompanionVerdict to be the opposite of that: a place where the verdict is earned through real testing, and where « best » means best for you — not best for whoever cut the biggest check.
What we do
We sign up for AI companion apps, use them properly over weeks, and evaluate them against consistent criteria — conversation quality, memory, customization, features, safety, and value. Then we write it up in plain language: what’s genuinely good, what’s overhyped, and who each app actually suits.
You’ll find three kinds of content here:

How we stay honest
CompanionVerdict is reader-supported. When you sign up to an app through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That’s how we keep the lights on and pay for the subscriptions we test.
But — and this is the whole point — that money never buys a better ranking or a softer review. We recommend the same apps regardless of affiliate relationships, and we’re upfront when an app disappoints us. If you ever feel we’ve steered you wrong, tell us. Our scope
We cover AI companion, roleplay, and creative storytelling apps for adults (18+). We focus on mainstream companion experiences, and we don’t feature explicit adult content or anything involving minors. Our aim is simple: help adults navigate this space with clear, trustworthy, up-to-date information.
